To address the increasingly shallow water levels of the Paraná River, Grupo Servicios Marítimos (GSM) and Neuero have developed the CombiFlexiport CF1000, an innovative floating grain transshipment unit installed on the 30,000‑dwt barge Grisel N. This integrated platform ensures efficient grain export operations even when river depths prevent vessels from loading to full capacity.

PRECIA MOLEN played a key role in this project by supplying a high‑performance hopper scale, ensuring accurate and reliable weighing throughout the transshipment process. This contribution strengthens the overall efficiency and precision of the CF1000 system, supporting uninterrupted grain logistics despite challenging river conditions.

The project

A Fully Integrated Floating Solution

The CF1000 combines three core functions on a single reinforced barge:

a Flexiport pneumatic unloader for challenging products like soybean meal,
a KIKO ship loader with full motion capability to adapt to varying river levels,
a PRECIA MOLEN commercial bulk scale ensuring accurate, compliant weighing in offshore conditions.

A Strategic Response to Declining Water Levels

With Paraná River drafts dropping by up to 2.5 inches and vessels sailing 15%–35% under capacity, the CF1000 helps restore export efficiency by enabling full Panamax loading, lowering freight costs, and strengthening Argentina’s grain competitiveness.

Engineering a High‑Performance Platform

Transforming the Grisel N into a floating terminal required major structural reinforcement and careful integration of mechanical and electrical systems. Kick‑in/kick‑out features on both unloader and loader further improve operability in demanding river conditions.

Supporting Argentina’s Agricultural Leadership

By uniting unloading, weighing, and loading on a mobile offshore unit, the CF1000 sets a new standard for grain transshipment and helps safeguard Argentina’s export capacity as environmental conditions evolve.

The solution

Facing the swell

An inclinometer and accelerometer installed on the barge to guarantee reliable and safe weighing against barge instability caused by ground movements linked to water fluctuations. Load cell blocking system to prevent shocks generated by occasional barge movement

Ajustement and Calibration made easy

Permanent calibration masses that can be operated using a jack at each angle, activated by a simple button
